View the consortium location hierarchy

The location hierarchy defines how the locations of items appear.

Location sources

For libraries that use Sierra, the list of locations comes from the Sierra Locations Served table. Sierra libraries don’t use the LX Starter consortium location hierarchy.

For libraries that use Polaris, the list of locations comes from the Polaris location hierarchy. The list updates daily with any changes from Polaris.

You can change the hierarchy settings (opens in a new tab) in either Vega Discover or LX Starter. The change applies in both systems, but remember that the daily update from Polaris might overwrite your changes.

Provision level

The LX admin provision level section specifies the hierarchy level that member libraries are assigned to. This setting is view-only for Polaris libraries and not applicable for Sierra libraries. For Sierra libraries, the setting comes from the Sierra Locations Served table. For Polaris libraries, contact Customer Support if you want to change the provision level.

To view the consortium location hierarchy

  1. Select the down arrow next to your name in the upper-right section of the page.
  2. Select Consortium Settings.
  3. From the Consortium Settings menu, select Location Hierarchy.
